Backerkit! IUNU! Cardboard & Sun!
almost 7 years ago – Thu, May 18, 2017 at 10:23:07 PM

Greetings, LudiCrats!

Good news, Backerkit surveys are coming soon to an inbox near you!

We sincerely thank you for your patience. We have not used Backerkit in a while, and given the size of our catalog, we wanted to make sure that we do not make any mistakes, if we can help it. So we tested, and tested some more, and then tested again.

You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link, fill it out, and you’re all good to go! You will be able to answer questions about your rewards preferences, provide shipping information, and pledge for more of our games if you'd like. You do not have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

If the email does not arrive in due time (check your spam folder), or if you need to review your information or pledge status, you will be able to recover your survey here: https://longlivethequeen.backerkit.com/.

If you use your Facebook login for your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey will be sent to the email you used for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you would prefer to use, please contact support at https://longlivethequeen.backerkit.com/faq and the nice Backerkit people will help you out!

If you would like more information on other LudiCreations games, including reviews, rules and component pictures, check out our website at http://ludicreations.com/.

As some of you have undoubtedly noticed, we just launched a new campaign! It is for IUNU, a surprisingly deep quick game, in the same vein as Long Live the Queen.

Given that this is part of our Sanders Select Series of games, all created by Todd Sanders, IUNU has a much more minimalist graphical identity. Regardless, if you give it a try on Tabletopia, or read the rules, you will see that it is a very thematic take on the power struggle between dynasties in ancient Egypt.

If that intrigues you, and if you would like another compact game (same box size as Long Live the Queen) that involves difficult decisions, check it out its Kickstarter campaign!

P.S.: Rahdo loved it:

Hey! Did you know that as a backer of a LudiCreations campaign, you can get 10% off the participation fees at Cardboard & Sun 2017?

If not, now you do! Cardboard & Sun is the best vacation a boardgamer can have - and it takes place in a beautiful place, the Greek island of Paros, where a board game collection of 600+ games (including many rare & expensive ones) awaits you!

So, check it out on BoardGameTravel.com, and join about 30 other fellow board game geeks for some delicious food, great company, 5 types of Nutella and of course a whole lot of cardboard & wood.

Thanks again for your attention.

As always, please contact us directly if there are any issues with your pledge - comments are difficult to keep track and issues may get overlooked.

All the best,

- LC

Long Live The Queen indeed!
about 7 years ago – Sun, Apr 23, 2017 at 03:49:59 PM

Greetings, LudiCrats

We can not really express how grateful (and a bit astonished) for your support in making this game. The level of support has been nothing short of amazing, in the fullest sense of the word.

We hope to express our gratitude in the best way we know how, which is to deliver a great game to you, a game you can use to create fun and lasting memories of enjoying yourselves with a friend across the table (and hopefully crushing them without mercy).

There are more than a few new-to-us backers in this campaign, and to you we bid you welcome in the hope that we will be worthy of your trust.

You are new in these parts, so let us introduce you to one of our most cherished traditions. We hope you will join us in a little celebratory gesture, something we do every time we fund:

That's the first, a sort-of-but-not-really celebration of the first milestone in a campaign we run. We are looking forward to celebrate fulfilling it too, usually together with our Spiel volunteers when we wrap-up the "season" with an all-you-can-eat buffet of chinese food in Essen.

Until then we are planning to be updating you on the production & fulfillment process. We are going to try to get that going early enough to deliver ahead of time, and we will need your help with that. We are planning to work with Backerkit to collect addresses, and help whoever wants more copies. More details to come soon.

We would like to thank Circle 3D6 and Andy for trusting us with this game, about which are so very clearly passionate about. Your passion inspires us to do justice by this clever little game, and we hope to do so in the long run.

Finally, we want to thank the amazing team behind this campaign, without which we would not be able to come close to launching it, let alone funding it. Alvin, Victor, Anthony, Paul, Kai, Falko, Mindy, as well as MissMerc and Daniel, you all built this one pixel at a time, and hopefully you'll be enjoying playing this game soon!

There are many more who directly or indirectly helped get this project up and running, and well, thousands of you, dear LudiCrats. Once more, thank you, truly, and welcome to another fantastic campaign!

Best,

-LC

P.S.: Hundreds of you have already signed up for our newsletter, but you may not know we also have a Facebook page - and another one in german. See you there!

News! Reviews! Nutella!
about 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 31, 2017 at 04:05:51 AM

OK, that Nutella part is superfluous. It should be a given, especially for those who have backed LudiCreations campaigns in the past. Please enjoy responsibly.

We have a lot of things for you here, including a review, a little bit on the story of how Long Live The Queen came to be, the Tabletopia implementation, and a little extra we will be able to fit in the box.

First, a playthrough and embarassingly positive review by Ant Lab Games. Skip to 21:30 to just see the review part:

Check out Ant Lab's other videos, they do some good honest work!

In other news, Alvin, your friendly local LudiCreations project manager recently made an appearance at a Sweet Kicks With Bricks, a really cool podcast, to discuss the story of how Long Live The Queen came to be:

http://www.sweetkickswithbricks.com/sweet-kicks-bricks-123-long-live-queen/

Give it a listen, especially if you like to know more about how we got here!

Tabletopia is a go!

Astute observers of the main campaign page (seriously, read it if you have not, and definitely check out the main campaign video) will notice that we have added a link to the Tabletopia implementation of Long Live The Queen's dieselpunk edition:

https://tabletopia.com/playground/long-live-the-queen/play-now

We know you are going to ask, so we'll just go ahead and say that we do not know when or if we are going to be able to implement the dlassic version as well. We have a lot of projects, and doing this sort of thing is a *lot* of work!

One cool thing you will notice there is the beautiful (albeit digital) playmat. We are thinking of ways to make a physical version, but it will not be an add-on and can not be shipped with the game. We are working on it, and will post an update once we know more!

Finally, as we are almost done with the funding portion of the campaign, we have been working on the production design.

It now looks like we have a tiny bit of space available on the punchboard. We already added some Sniper/Assassin marker tokens to help you see which character tiles are under threat, and then we found ourselves with a piece that did not fit anything else.

We have already asked the original publisher for more material, and they rightly consider the game complete. Any additional characters or any such game material (including any promos) would have to be the product of a separate (and undoubtedly intense) development process.

Therefore, we decided to take advantage of this space available, and decided to fill it with some promo tiles for a game closely related to the dieselpunk version of Long Live The Queen. That game is none other than Crisis!

Produced in limited quantities (like Long Live The Queen will likely be), it is now sold out, and awaiting its future fate with distributors and potential co-publishers. Its backers and many other gamers are always looking for more, and we decided to give it to them. Therefore, Spies!

Two tiles, each double-sided (male and female sides). A special type of Employee which can infiltrate opponents' companies and generate anything they can. As you can see, the characters bear a certain resemblance to a couple of dieselpunk edition employees...

Keep in mind that this promo will be in both editions of Long Live The Queen. It may be available separately later on as well, but that will be determined at a later date. For more information on the tiles, check out this backer update on the Crisis campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/crisis/posts/1809796

Thank you for reading thus far! We know it is a long update, but we prefer to spam less and inform more. There are going to be more updates on the production and fulfillment part of the campaign as we move forward to making Long Live The Queen a reality.

Until then, please feel free to message us with any questions you may have, especially if they are not covered by the FAQ or pertain to your pledge in particular.

Thanks so much again,

- LC

Dicey Exploits, Icons & Tabletopia!
about 7 years ago – Tue, Mar 21, 2017 at 02:37:27 AM

Greetings, LudiCrats!

We have a nice and full update for you today, as we progress further into making Long Live The Queen

Check out this very entertaining video from Ben of Dicey Exploits (known for his also very entertaining video of Crisis), who took a look at Long Live The Queen:

Ben is known for quirky, quick & quixotic videos, so check out his channel for more of the same!

Good news for Classic edition backers who prefer the Dieselpunk iconography! The Classic action icons have been updated - here are the before & after images:

For brevity's sake, we are just posting just the white tiles here. In the black ones, the colors of the relevant icons (e.g. tile backs depicted) are reversed.

Finally, we are very happy to announce that work on the Tabletopia implementation of Long Live The Queen is progressing:

We will start with the Dieselpunk edition. Until that's ready, you can always download the Vassal module linked on the front page. We are very excited about both of these implementations, as we always try to give you a way to try the game before you back.

Thanks again for reading another one of our updates!

If you have any questions, please let us know - and remember you can always follow us and our other projects at https://www.facebook.com/LudiCreations.

Until the next time, happy gaming!

Best,

- LC

Long Live The Backers!
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 16, 2017 at 12:41:51 PM

Greetings, LudiCrats!

Here we go again! Another year, another beginning in our annual quest to bring you the most unique games we can!

This time, we have our second collaboration with a Japanese design studio, following last year's Mythe. We are very happy and eager to publish Long Live The Queen, something we have been working a long time on.

In fact, it was supposed to have been published last year, but the unexpected need to run a campaign for Crisis (it was supposed to have had distribution) severely disrupted our schedule and capital needs. So, we delayed Long Live The Queen for a bit, so that we can give it the attention it deserved.

Speaking of attention, give some to the campaign video - it took a lot of work Nutella to make:

And so, here we are! And so, here you are! You managed to fund another game, quickly, and we can now proceed with our plans to produce Long Live The Queen. One of the goals of this campaign has been to decide how much to make of each one.

We will use the final campaign numbers to decide how much to produce. The rest of the work (punchboard sheet layouts, quotes, graphic design) has been done, and we can now proceed on the long road to production & fulfillment.

Now, for something else. This has been asked before, and it has been a huge issue for us since the Crisis campaign, so we thought we should clear it up early on: We do not have distribution agreements in place for Long Live The Queen.

We have showed it to some distributors, and demonstrated a prototype last year at Spiel, but as we are an indie, boutique publisher, it is difficult for us to stand out when 1000 new games come out every year. It doesn't help that we usually produce in Europe, which means higher production costs (and higher-quality components), but better control over the production process. However, we are committed to providing a premium game, whether it comes in a big or small box.

For Long Live The Queen means that for the moment, we will produce what we need to fulfill this campaign, in addition to some copies for replacements, and some copies for sale at Spiel 2017. This also means that you will probably not be seeing it in retail stores anytime soon.

If you would like more copies, we are considering helping you get them by using Backerkit after the campaign. Something like that would allow us to limit our stock of available copies that can be obtained through the survey, and to properly organize our logistics to make sure that we can fulfill them efficiently.

In other news, we are now working on getting Long Live The Queen to Tabletopia, which will allow you an additional way to try the game, in addition to the Vassal module posted on the main campaign page.

Thank you once again for embarking on yet another cardboard adventure with us. We strive to become ever better at what we do, and your support keeps the lights on while we work on the most unique (weird, fun, unexpected) games we can find!

All the best,

- LC
